Classic, Unique Property

I wasn't sure what to expect as I booked this room as an overnight when attending a wedding there. What a pleasant surprise. The hotel was beautiful; a perfect balance of antique and modern. I felt like I was a personal guest in a millionaire’s mansion. The staff was very welcoming, the room was spacious and the amenities in the room were excellent. I loved walking around the property and observing so many little details that make the Madison Hotel special. The room also comes with breakfast included in the morning. The price value for what you receive here is excellent. This hotel is a great example of slow down and take the time to smell the roses. If you do you'll really enjoy the Madison Hotel.

Old Fashioned Beauty

One of the best Hotel stays I've ever had. We were greeted at the door by a bellman who was happy to greet us warmly and load our bags. The warmness continued once we checked in the front desk staff was also welcoming and friendly. We were greeted with delicious cookies and tea in the front lobby. The bellman saw us to our room, unloaded our bags, and wished us a nice stay.

The room was lovely. It was extremely clean and beautifully furnished. We had more than enough towels in the bathroom, a magnifying make up mirror, and beautiful granite sink and counter tops.

When setting up a wake up call, we spoke to an actual person at the front desk. At the time of our wake up, again an actual person was on the other end of the phone with a great wake up call to include the forecast, breakfast times, and other useful information. Breakfast was a simple continental breakfast but more than adequate.

As for the Hotel, it was on beautiful grounds with well manicured lawns. The reason for our stay was a wedding. The wedding was held in the conservatory -- a beautiful setting, the food was absolutely delicious. To continue the theme of great service, the wait staff and bartenders serving the wedding were fantastic.

Whether going for a wedding, or just to visit historic Morristown, you will love your stay!

The Madison is a True Gem

I had the pleasure to stay at the Madison this week while traveling for business. This is my third stay at this property and it never disappoints. The hotel is truly a grande dame in beauty and the staff is friendly, helpful, and down to earth. Compared to other places that I stay for business travel, The Madison is heads above the rest. I highly recommend this property whenever you are staying in the Northern New Jersey area.

Classy, Cozy, Convenient

A third stay at this lovely hotel..always very welcoming for reunions at Drew University in nearby Madison, NJ. The train to NYC convenient from the station just outside the hotel entrance. Beautiful setting, indoor pool, central courtyard, gorgeous landscape, comfortable beds, refrigerator and microwave in the room...staff super helpful and accommodating...wonderful place for wedding reception and other events. Restaurant on the grounds and Madison's downtown very close by. The breakfast is a favorite...NY bagels, rolls, sweets, fruit, yogurt, etc. etc and the best coffee!!....

Historic Madison

My mother and I stayed here so that we could visit the nearby Morristown National Historical Park and the Madison Historical Society. We were meeting a couple for dinner in Madison and were originally scheduled to meet at 6 but due to heavy traffic coming up from Washington, DC, we had to postpone until a later time for dinner. As it was, we arrived at the hotel about 15 minutes before our scheduled time to meet and the staff got us checked in quickly and provided directions to the restaurant. When we returned to the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel had turned down our beds, even placing a chocolate on our pillows. I haven't had this kind of experience since my last cruise.

Fancy :)

This place is very nice! Outside there is a doorman who will help you with your luggage if needed. The front desk checked me in and informed me I was entered in their raffle that would be announced in the morning. There is an indoor pool and seating outside. The inside seating area is fancy and the breakfast had the usual fresh fruit, danishes and breads, along with coffee, tea and cereal. The room was clean and even the shampoo, conditioner and body wash were better quality than the usual stuff. I'm definitely staying here again!

Lovely Old/New Hotel

We enjoyed an overnight at the Madison. We had a lovely room with a modern bathroom. All was clean and elegant. Breakfast was continental, but substantial. The hotel had the elegance of the past, but beautifully appointed with modern conveniences. It had a lovely pool and sun type room. This would be a great place for a wedding which i am certain they do plenty of.

Impeccable Service!!!

Everything from the professional, pleasant, and can't-do-enough staff, to the luxurious linens, to the breakfast, to the gardens, to the restaurant food, was absolutely first rate. I was there a week and nobody skipped a beat, absolutely first class hotel. Highly recommended.

Gracious, lovely facility with a wonderful staff

This is an older facility which just exudes care, class and commitment. We had a lovely room that had a refrigerator and sink in the room. The room's tv and furniture looked dated but were in excellent condition. The a/c is a tad noisy but worked fine and was easily operated (better than some of those digital guys on the wall). What makes this place so nice is that every single person on staff was welcoming, smiling and polite. There was a continental breakfast that was as good as you will ever find with very, very tempting pastries and sensible fruits and yogurts. There is a wonderful bar that seems like it welcomes everyone and with lots of televisions the sports fans will be sated and a bar without televisions for a quieter drink, I think.

Some examples of making things better were shown by the staff during an overnight stay. The bellman met us at the front door and "asked" if we would like help and then provided excellent service. Same thing worked as we checked out the next morning. After arriving in the room we received a welcoming call that I found helpful if there were questions. In the lobby when I needed a piece of paper and when I saw a pad in the lobby the young lady insisted I take the whole pad and offered me another. When my friend was not able to leave the room for one of the wonderful restaurants but she was set on their meatloaf dinner that was not on the room service menu, the young ladies at the restaurant resolved the issue by ordering it as take out and then made sure we had real silverware for dinner in the room. Nice touch and indicative of the care and loyalty that seems apparent with this staff. By the way, the dinner with mashed potatoes is as good as it gets when you need real comfort food. We didn't have the chance to use the pool or other facilities but they looked very well maintained.

A Charming and Elegant Hotel

Beautiful hotel, can't walk to much from the hotel if you don't want to get in the car or on a train but the hotel is plenty in itself. The back greenhouse room is gorgeous we went to a wedding here and it was nothing short of stunning. Before the reception in the greenhouse we had food and cocktails outside on the great patio area. The lighting was phenomenal. We stayed two nights, went to brunch at the restaurant at the hotel it was pretty good. The bar at night was really fun live music the one night and a good selection in an old fashioned wooden bar. Our room was perfect. Plenty of space, a desk and a big bathroom with everything I needed. During the day also read outside in the courtyard at the tables with umbrellas really a nice place to hang out. The second morning we had the continental free breakfast and it was quite good. Overall our stay was wonderful and I couldn't complain about anything. I would highly reccommend an event in the glass greenhouse like room it's stunning day and night.

Classic hotel with very nice amenities

Just stayed two nights for business and was very pleased overall. No, it is not the most modern hotel available but a classic, and has most every amenity from indoor pool and fitness center, to nice steakhouse and pub. Also right next to trains/transit. It was somewhat chilly while we were there and the fireplace in the lobby (real wood burning) was a nice touch. Front desk staff was very accommodating, check in was fast, and room was more than adequate. Turn down service is offered, a free bottle of water was at the bedside nightstand, Kuerig coffee maker with a nice selection of coffee and tea. Free wireless internet, and very nice continental breakfast stocked with fruit, cereals (hot and cold) yogurt, bagels, Danish, and all very tidy.

While I am not a coffee drinker, I heard many comments about how good the coffee was.

I was pleased with my stay and would be happy to stay again on my next trip to this area.

Ideal Stay

My family recently spent one weeknight at The Madison Hotel and it was great. The room was clean and quiet. The lobby is beautiful and the premises were clean. Most importantly, to me anyway, was a soft, even mattress and pillows that weren't too big or too firm. The continental breakfast was excellent. My daughter loved the pool and the sky-lit ceiling. We're frequent visitors to the Morristown area and had not stayed at The Madison Hotel before. Now it will be our go-to hotel.
