Exceeded expectations ~ Quality, Professional, Superior Client Services

As a meeting organizer by trade, my expectations for a local hotel for a meeting group of less than 100 were minimal. The Madison Hotel was one of the most professional, effective, efficient and enjoyable venues I've come across in years.

From organizing months before with the event staff right through to check out after the 2 day meeting, there wasn't a minute that the staff, catering, banquet, front desk and facility services ever disappointed.

Room reservations were treated as a priority for our meeting attendees. Rooms were quiet, extremely comfortable and sparkling. Meeting facility reservations were painless right from the beginning. Setup, food, beverage, reception environment, speaker program room and audio visual ~ all flawless.

If there was a question or an unanticipated need or request (lighting, table changes, av revisions, etc) - any staff approached immediately resolved the issue or contacted the appropriate staff.

From check in to check out ~ this team was on task, willing, responsive and respectful of our group. Not to mention that in the two day time frame, there were constant and numerous other client events, regular hotel guests and a full functioning restaurant all operating at the same time. We never felt that we weren't the first priority and have to assume neither did any of the other groups.

Happy at the Madison Hotel

We had a wonderful stay at the Madison Hotel. We had a block of 5 rooms. Making the reservation for our 2 night stay could have been complicated. Some rooms were King and some were Doubles. But Jennifer Nanke made our reservation with no mistakes. She even granted our request to have 2 adjoining rooms. She connected us with Rod's for our dinner as well as the consierge for train schedules into Manhattan. We could not have chosen a more accommodating hotel. In fact we plan to stay at the Madison for our upcoming class reunion.

Completely Happy With This Hotel

We were completely happy with our stay at the Madison and will certainly stay there again when in the area. The rooms were clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful in giving us directions to the various historical sites in the area and to the Gustav Stickley Craftsman Farm. The included continental breakfast was varied and very good quality. We booked the birthday special, and along with the discounted rate and the $50 certificate to the excellent Rod's Steak and Grill Restaurant we were served a delicious, surprise birthday cake after dinner. Very conveniently located. Just lovely. We highly recommend this hotel.

Love the Madison Hotel!

Twenty two years ago we got married at The Madison Hotel. Over the years we have been back a few times, but not recently until this fall. We were so pleasantly happy to see how beautiful the hotel still is! We stayed overnight in a honeymoon suite which had recently been updated. It was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was so nice to us (especially Megan) and we could not have asked for more. The ballroom, which has not changed, still looks beautiful and I would choose it again as the place for my wedding! I loved everything about the hotel and hope to stay there for occassions in the future!

Most Relaxing, busy time I've ever had!!!

Let me start by saying how very beautiful the city of Morristown was for me! Being from a city like Chicago, although beautiful in it's own way, it is very important for me to "get away from it all" from time to time. While this was a very busy ministry conference trip for me, the beauty, nostalgic atmosphere, and the friendly nature of the staff at the Madison Hotel constantly gave me a feeling of peace and relaxation, which made my busy time at our conference go so much more smoothly. While some hotels can be hit or miss in terms of their courtesy and attending to your expectations, I can honestly say that at no point did I encounter any problem that wasn't met with a smile and a quick resolution, and with our conference being held elsewhere, the 24/7 FREE access to the business center was such a life saver for me! In all, my travel this time was without my wife, but The Madison is at the very top of my list for a return trip, this time as a romantic getaway, for it has romance written all over it! Thank you to all of the staff!

A wonderful experience

A large, family-owned hotel. Very nice rooms, extremely comfortable beds. Friendly, helpful staff. Very popular for weddings, parties and meetings, but still retains it's warm charm and friendly atmosphere. Elegant furnishings and a lovely fireplace in the lobby, with comfy seating and an old world feel about it. Some other nice touches:- free continental breakfast; free loan of kindles or books; free coffee 24 hours; free internet in the lobby. There is an indoor pool, hot tub and a work-out room. The hotel has two main restaurants, "Rod's" an upscale steakhouse and the "Red Dog" pub. There are also some renovated Victorian railway cars which have been turned into dining rooms - very nice. Outdoor seating and fire-places in the courtyard. We ate at Rod's and the food was outstanding, as was the service. They have live music Saturday nights. Sunday brunch was also excellent and reasonably priced with great selections (we were very impressed by the freshness of the fruits and salads), and everything was beautifully presented - we ate till we couldn't move! We had a very enjoyable stay, and would definitely go back.

Perfect for an Autumn Wedding

Our friends were married in the beautiful conservatory section of the hotel, which was decorated in gorgeous fall colors. The cocktail party was in an adjacent large room, which was also decorated beautifully, including a swan ice sculpture. The hors d'oeuvres were delicious, the drinks varied and plentiful; the servers and bar tender were attentive and professional. The wedding dinner included a choice of beef, seafood or chicken, again very good. The rooms are extremely clean and the beds are very comfortable, with firm mattresses. The indoor pool and the hot tub are the cleanest I have every seen, and again, beautifully decorated. The "continental" breakfast is very generous, with cereal, yogerts, bagels, croissants, muffins, fruit, juices, toaster, and lots of coffee. The reception area had a huge fireplace and lots of very comfortable seating for groups to congregate in. The staff is polite, friendly, professional, and attentive. I recommend this hotel for anyone.

Excellent choice for our date night

We recently spent a Saturday night at the Madison Hotel, as we were in the area to visit Shanghai Jazz in Madison, and decided to make it an overnight "Date Night" rather than drive home after the performance. We were very impressed with this hotel's service, facilities and value. Comments on specific aspects follow:

Check-in/check-out: Seamless. Our prepaid reservation was recognized immediately at check-in, as soon as I gave our last name. There was no waiting for check-out on Sunday morning; we simply dropped off our key cards and departed.

Common areas: Lobby and hallways are immaculate and well-appointed. The lobby is especially nice - we enjoyed coffee by the fireplace. Low, popcorn-tile ceilings in hallways do slightly undercut the otherwise luxurious, antebellum look of the property. Event spaces are very attractive, especially the glass-enclosed Conservatory, which is understandably popular for medium-sized weddings. The main ballroom, which accommodates a larger crowd, might be a bit dark.

Amenities: The small gym is pleasantly bright, and has the standard hotel equipment: mostly aerobic, plus a universal rig for simple weight-training; a single TV serves all stations. The adjacent pool/spa area is bright and clean, with no heavy chlorine scent. The jets in the whirlpool are rather weak, so don't expect much relief for aching muscles.

Room: We had a third-floor room with king bed, facing the small interior courtyard. The room was clean, large and well-supplied with K-cup coffees and teas. Bed was comfortable - maybe a bit on the soft side for some tastes. Noise was not bad, considering the presence of a wedding party down the hall, the elevators nearby and the train station up the road. I wouldn't call the walls thick - just adequate. The bathroom was quite nice: modern, comfortable and stocked with good-quality toiletries (though the blood-orange additives were a bit harsh for my sensitive skin). Dual-mode shower head is a nice touch; the water pressure seemed a bit low to get the full benefit from the shower-massage head. Climate control was responsive - we turned up the heat as the night turned chilly, and everything worked well.

Extras: Free hot beverages are available 24/7 in the lobby, and seem to be refilled regularly. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary breakfast: lots of good fresh fruit and decent baked goods with nice jams and preserves. There were hard-boiled eggs, but no other hot entrees - a relief for us, because we ate too much all weekend anyway. We did not eat at the hotel restaurants; they seem rather pricey for the area.

Overall: Some purists may be put off by the faux-Confederate decor of the Madison. If you want the real thing, drive to Virginia. For a Holiday Inn price, this is about as close as you will get to Southern hospitality in Northern Jersey. Kudos to the Madison. We'll be back!

Note to fellow cheapskates: We booked through P*******e, naming our own price at a level that I consider an all-time date-night bargain.

Nice hotel, convenient location

Had a very nice stay for 2 nights for a college class reunion. The Madison Hotel is classic looking and well maintained. The rooms were decorated nicely. The lobby was very nice and had a wood burning fireplace. There is also a courtyard with tables and chairs.  The included breakfast is top notch. The jellies and jams were in little glass jars rather than the standard plastic packets. The hotel is just across a parking lot from the New Jersey Transit rail line which made it easy to get to NYC.

Exceptional. Our stay could not have been better. We are already looking forward to our next stay

We have stayed at this hotel many times before when visiting our Aunt in New York and we have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately this time our car broke down on our way back and because it happened at the week end the new parts required took four days to arrive and be fitted. So we were forced to extend our stay on a day by day basis, and the hotel staff were only too pleased to help us in any way they could. We decided to make the most of our difficult situation and turn it into a mini vacation. Fortunately we could easily walk to the nearby train station and visit lots of interesting places without even missing our car. The hotels restaurant was wonderful and the bar food was also tasty and reasonably priced, so we ate there most evenings. The free breakfast was more than adequate and the indoor pool and hot tub were very clean and refreshing. We are discerning seniors who have traveled the world and this hotel should be graded "Five Star" because it has beautifully decorated ceilings and antique furniture yet modern bathrooms and fittings. It is just wonderful and we could not have broken down in a better place. Thanks again

My first choice

A stay at the Madison Hotel in Morristown, NJ, blends old time sophistication with the expedience of modern conveniences. The working fireplace in the lobby lights the visitor's way to a unique setting that is rarely found these days. Classical background music soothes the traveler's soul, and the accommodations are updated, clean and extremely comfortable. It is always my first choice when staying in the area!

All around Great Visit

We stayed here for three nights, since we were in the Morristown area for a show at the Mayo and a Jazz festival in town. Town is a only 10 minute drive. The hotel is elegant and has many nice touches. From the moment we stepped into the inviting lobby we were treated by all of the friendly staff with great service. Our room was very lovely, nicely decorated. They are remodeling all of the bathrooms, ours was new with granite vanity. Comfy bed and linens. Our room overlooked the courtyard with many flowers. We ate in the courtyard for the morning continental plus breakfast. Nicest continental breakfast we ever had. Two great restaurants on site, Rod's and Red Dog tavern. With so many restaurants in town, we still came back for our meals. Nice indoor pool. Great location for train to NYC. Plenty of parking. Will be back.
