From the time we drove up to the hotel to our check out, we thoroughly enjoyed the Madison. The design and character of the building displayed first class and at the reception desk the staff were polite and helpful in answering questions that we ask. The room was clean, neat and well laid out. The lobby is very hospitable and served as a great casual meeting place for informal meeting with friends that were also hotel guest. Breakfast was more complete and enjoyable than expected.

A uniquely special place.
As soon as you drive up you realize this is not your normal hotel. They have managed to keep the charm and relaxed atmosphere of this great property while managing a very nice hotel. I'm not sure I can remember a hotel lobby so welcoming and inviting that it is actually used by the guests at all times of day. All of the cozy seating areas and the fireplace and low key decor and lighting are very inviting. The room itself was great, fantastic bed, plenty of room, clean and nicely decorated. Both the pub and the restaurant are excellent and it's nice to have both options on the property.
Excellent Hotel with great Aminities
Stayed there in dec2014 for our Christmas party evening, lounge, lobby, friendly staff and great rooms with nice cleanliness. loved it, their ball room is excellent and sunroom with glass view from top to all sides... wow. great choices of breakfast next morning...what else you need to make a great stay.Great access to interstate 78 for NY/*statue of Liberty
We immediately felt at home and very privileged to be in this hotel
The Madison Hotel is a wonderful choice for staying in a quiet and beautiful area but still next to a train station, that will enable you to visit New York City. Morristown is a great city as well and we love the down town area with several great restaurants and stores, the museum, the theater and the concert auditorium. Our handicap friendly room was appointed to perfection, the sumptuous breakfast in the gorgeous lobby sheer delight and we had the opportunity to eat dinner at both Rod's Steakhouse and the Red Dog Tavern, both part of the Madison Hotel and the food was excellent. It is also a great place for weddings, family reunions or just a peaceful place away from the madding crowd. My husband is a disabled Veteran and the hotel was very generous with us and treated us like royalty. We will return to you, dear Madison Hotel !
Dependable hotel in a great business location
I have clients in the area and could stay in six other hotels but for the money The Madison Hotel is everything I need. Great dining and very nice big bar right in the building. Very nice complementary breakfast. A heated pool and enough workout equipment for a business traveler. Love the little raffle ticket when you check in! Have been there many times over the last 10 years and hope I win one day......
Unexpected, felt like I was Southern royalty
Details of the hotel are off the charts, you are greeted with a smile and hot cider. Don't forget to cozy up to a real log wood fireplace. Rooms are immaculate and they even have a fan in the bathroom. You don't get that at the hyatt. I would visit morristown again just to stay at the hotel
Old World Charm at its Finest
I frequently stay at this property for business. My favorite room is 424 - from the 4 poster bed to the kitchenette to the luxurious bathroom, you feel like you've stepped back in time and are treated like royalty. I like the full complimentary breakfast, the wood burning hearth in the lobby area and, of course, the nightly turn down service.
It is a quick 30-40 minute drive from the Newark Airport. The train station is right across the parking lot and to get to NY's Penn Station is about $12 and a 60 minute ride.
I highly recommend this hotel for both business travelers and those looking to get away for a long weekend.
We stayed there for a wedding in May 2014 and we loved every bit of it. The hotel has an elegant and posh feeling to it. The interior is excellent, the food was great, the service was very much appreciable.
They have a very well decorated old coach outside the hotel where you can have dinner with your family.
Very nice experience at the hotel. Thank you!
A Beautiful Winter Wedding
This was our first trip to the Madison Hotel and it couldn't have been more magical. We were attending a wedding ceremony and reception, then stayed overnight. The hotel has a charmingly historic atmosphere and we were fortunate to be there when it was decorated for the holiday season. The warm inviting lobby is the location for the complimentary continental breakfast in the mornings and is a cozy place to just sit and relax while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee which is available for guests throughout the day. The atrium was beautifully decorated with an abundance of live poinsettias adding a pop of color in the glass enclosed room with white chairs and sparkling crystal chandeliers. A beautiful setting for the wedding ceremony. The reception area was tastefully decorated and, again, the holiday décor enhanced the venue. Service was attentive and professional. The food was very good. Afterward we headed to the restaurant/bar for cocktails. The wood paneled room is quite impressive with 2 levels of seating, stained glass ceilings and a huge antique chandelier. We eventually headed back to our room which was quiet and comfortable. The décor was plain but the bathroom was well equipped and seemed pretty newly renovated. Overall a truly delightful experience.
The marble fireplace with the ornate wood in the lobby is captivating. You feel at home in luxury enjoying breakfast by the beautiful fireplace....The staff are all friendly and helpful. The room is the perfect size with all the amenities of home. Rooms are clean and spacious. This hotel is a diamond hidden at the entrance of St. Elizabeth's college. The pub restaurant has delicious food for all tastes and is very convenient right in the hotel. The beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables is outrageous! Enjoy home away from home in luxury! Reasonable priced also...
We stayed in a junior suite. Room was clean and spacious. Towels and linens are plush. Alot of convenient touches (bathrobes, amenities, snacks and fridge in room) . Staff is friendly and helpful. Had dinner at Rod's, which was also very good, and a drink in Red Dog. Overall, a very pleasant stay!
An Excellent Hotel to Stay In
The Madison Hotel is a perfect blend of old-fashioned charm with modern amenities. In terms of the modern amenities, rooms are beautifully decorated, with large marble upscale bathrooms and bath/showers, comfortable bathrobes, extremely comfortable beds with excellent linens, and comfortable chairs and desk areas in the room. In terms of the old-fashioned charm, the lobby area has tons of beautiful, dark-wood furniture with comfortable sitting areas and a very nice fireplace area. The restaurants are both excellent – one more casual, and one a high-end steak and seafood restaurant. Both very friendly and were bustling even on Monday and Tuesday nights.
The gym is very modern and has all relevant exercise equipment, and the pool is very nice. Staff were extremely accommodating. Rooms are extremely reasonably priced in view of the quality of the hotel. I have stayed at many, many hotels in the Northern NJ/NYC area for business, and this is by far the nicest and most accommodating hotel I have stayed in. I would highly recommend booking a stay with The Madison Hotel.
